Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction has won a contract for the construction of a waste to heat and power plant worth 157 million Euro in Olsztyn. The client is the energy company Dobra Energia.

The project concerns a combined heat and power plant that is to process about 300 tons of municipal waste per day in order to produce heat and power supplies of about 12 MW for the local community.

The whole project is in the focus of attention because it is not only supposed to generate electricity from waste, but also to help minimize the number of landfills, thus contributing to the reduction of environmental pollution.

The consortium, consisting of Doosan Heavy Industries & Construction and Doosan Lentjes, will undertake a turnkey project. The company is expected to build a CHP plant by 2023. Doosan Heavy will provide general project management services, while Doosan Lentjes will supply the combustion boiler and environmental equipment as well as mechanical and electrical work. Its Czech subsidiary Doosan Skoda Power will also take part in the project by supplying a small 12 MW industrial steam turbine.
