What is your definition of "Concept Art"?

Hi all,

I've just recently taken a class on art history and my perception of art has changed since. Not only did I learn about all the different art forms throughout the ages, but have also learned how one evolved from another or from the experiences of the time in question. However, I am having a difficult time understanding what is concept art, and what portions of what we call art fall under the "conceptual art" umbrella.

Now, "Conceptual Art" is defined by Webster as: "an art form in which the artist's intent is to convey a concept rather than to create an art object"

Do you agree with this definition? If so, why? If not, please explain.

And, if you could, help me understand what is and what is not "concept art".

Thanks.
