Is using a misleading local number a good idea?

Hello,

These days with $1 VOIP numbers its not hard to appear local. A few years ago I had problems with this on Craigslist though. I was non-local and when callers found this out they usually weren't happy, even through my objection handling.

I am considering trying using a non-local number again, and this time if someone objects to me being local I think I'll see if I can reframe it (yes this is one of many techniques I use to raise response. People see the local number and it raises conversions. We'll do the same on your campaigns...).

Just curious if anyone else has experimented with local numbers while being nonlocal and how it worked out.

Thanks,

I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
