Access WCM content from external application server

Hello,

 

I am using WebSphere Portal 8. I have WCM content items created inside portal as part of my application. I have a completely separate Java web application running in a different WebSphere Application Server. I want to access few WCM content of portal from the external application running in different WAS. What are the different solution approach available? My WCM contents are not public content. Please provide options on how to use WCM API passing proper user credentials and or other options such as WCM Rest APIs.
