SSHD drive for MacBook Pro
Permalink

Hello,

I own a mid 2012 MacBook Pro with 8gb memory and a Nvidia graphics card. The game plays fine, but it's slow on loading Bnet and WoW. I came across a Seagate FireCuda Gaming SSHD laptop drive that's on sale for Prime Day. My question is this:

Have any of you used an SSHD in a system and what do you think of them? I'm on a budget, so a straight up SSD drive is out of my price range.

Thanks in advance for any advice or experience! :)My primary gaming rig ran on a desktop SSHD (A Seagate model that was 16GB NAND/2TB platter). For boot times, general responsiveness in the OS, and frequently used applications like browsers, etc, it's 90% as good as an SSD.

What it will NOT help with, however, is game loading times in a game like WoW. There isn't a large enough NAND flash section to hold the files WoW loads.

Thank you for your time and reading this!
